Tagging files based on the topics within is not that useful for me (or future me):
- Heavily linking files and augmenting searches with AI are more reliable ways to retrieve relevant files that I created (vs browsing tags).
- When creating topic tags, I am bias by the recency of whatever context is on my mind. I will over-tag or under-tag certain topics based on what is on my mind at the time of tagging. Particular tags will fall out of favor by virtue of a migration of my vocabulary even when the content of similar topics continues
Topic tags are most helpful for others. Categorizing notes by topics creates useful entry points into content via an anchor term they know or appreciate.
As such, I will create an AI topic tagging agent. It is okay if someone else (AI) creates topic tags for my content because those tags aren’t for me anyway.
Not all tagging should be delegated. My file type tags and Identify files by origin then type needs to be created by me
