All my files fall into one of the following structures and context:
- Reference notes: Snippets, paraphrasing and thoughts related to one resource. File names include author or source
- Research notes: Learning through many different references in one file
- Writing notes: My own writing creations
- Project notes: Execution, usually coding-related
- Task notes
- Episodic notes: Things I do and experience (personal journal, chronological). File name starts with the date and sometimes time
- Thing notes: Anything that can be interacted with (person, place, thing)
- System notes: System generated, collections, indices, navigation
Patterns:
- Identify files by origin then type
- Add examples of each file type, use a real example
