Not evergreen
Status progresses from open (before) → in-progress (during) → done (after). Once done, it is not typically or intended to be edited again. These notes have a different shape depending on the status.
-
Task notes: Determine something I need to do → do it → document what I did
-
Episodic notes: Notes for scheduled things that are created before for prep → quick reference during → diary after
-
Episodes and tasks start as a planning note, then an archive of occurrence afterward
Evergreen
Don’t necessarily follow the same status progression. I will if combined with a Task note, but it can always return to “in-progress”
- Project notes: Scopes can widen or narrow. There is always something to work on
- Reference notes: Rereading to apply a new perspective based on new experiences past me didn’t have yet
- Research notes: Can be evergreen depending on the topic
- Writing notes: Always finding something to rewrite when coming back to it
- Thing notes: Something new after every interaction with the thing
- System notes: Changes overtime from overhauls to tiny adjustments to better fit my workflow
